I can not believe how many of you have this same issue. I have a '99 Durango and '99 2500 QC - They were both great till the first off-road trip. Then on the way down the hill - you guessed it - squeak squeak irritating squeak. I'm going to give the column a squirt with some WD40 - but it is just unbelievable how many folks had the same experience and couldn't get dealers to fix the issue. I'm a big Dodge truck fan - but at times it is hard to stay loyal!

Hi, Folks!
WE have Dakotas here in Bazil! And they are squeaky too! Let me tell you my story, think it might help all of you! In the beginning i had aplied this lubricant spray solution too, but it was time limitated, a month or two!! What realy causes the squeak is a metal on metal contac(the column on the firewall!!!) the bushing gets cutted alowwing this contact!!! The ultimate solution is replacing the mf bushing! The spray works fine for a time, but mineral oil based sprays rottens the rubber stuff even more! The result is a meca barbara straisand squeaky noise!!! I've read in this list, one guy said he had the entire column replaced, he had the problem solved just becouse the bushing has been changed too! Hope this help!

I have a 2004 QC and the dash started to squeak recently. I tried everything includig taking it apart and driving, but that did not work either. I am glad I found this post because I will try the steering column. I hope it works. I love my truck but can not take the noise.

Ralph, is your squeak coming from the right or left hand side? Does it sound like it is near the windshield?

044.7 , Yes that is exactly where it sounds like it is coming from. The drivers side dash close to the windshield. It is also a creaking sound when the body flexes, but starts to squeak while going over bumps. I beat the hell out of the dash with my fist and could not replicate the sound. I also hit everything under the dash but no squeak. PLEASE HELP! It is annoying to a point I don't even want to drive it.

I had the same problem only it was the passenger side. I finally took it to the dealer and they found bolts loose on the inner fender. Not one squeak since and that was 4 months ago. Try the dealer, maybe it is something to do with our specific year.
