Subject: Overhead Console Comp/Therm Fix IP: Logged
Message: Hello all; i've scraped a lot of good tips off this board (throttle position sensor, idle air controller, cam position sensor and putting '99 Durango torsion bars in my '94 Dak- my favorite). And all that's helped me out so thought i'd give back some:
If you got an 88-96 Dak with the overhead console containing a compass, thermometer, couple of lights and places to put shades and garage door opener...and one day your comp/therm go out AND your ABS indicator light comes on at the same time...this is how I fixed it.
Check fuse #3A/B. It should be blown.
Remove one screw in sunglass compartment that holds console up.
Pull console towards rear of truck and front tab will slide out, dropping it.
Press side tabs out and pull large black wire connection out of the circuit board. You may see small particles of white stuff (corrosion) come out.
Repeat half a dozen times, you are essentially cleaning the contacts.
Reconnect, and check the smaller white plug to the lamps is tight too.
Leave whole thing hanging, replace the light blue 15A fuse, and turn on ignition. Must be ON, not just accessory...
This did it for me! If not for you, sorry I guess you have more troubleshooting to do.
For what it's worth.
