Subject: Installing Jimmi Jammers

Has anyone had any trouble installing these in their second-gen dakota?

I spend a couple hours trying to get mine in and concluded that you can't install them the way the directions say to.

After a while, we just took the door handles out of the doors to see if the plates would even fit on the back of the handle at all. we found that they will fit, but you can only really put them on properly in a way that's impossible to do while the door handle is in the door (and you can't put the jimmijammer on the back of the handle while it's out of the door, then put the handle back in).

The only way to get the plate on is to hang the plate on the door handle stud (via the hole in the plate) and rotate it into place).

The problem is, you can't move the plate to the side enough, as the door handle runs right up against the end of the door.

On another forum, I found a picture of someone installing the jimmijammers on his dakota, and the plates he has look completely different from mine. (his is a 2nd gen dak as well)

I would really like to install these in my doors for peace of mind (I'm also working on wiring a kill switch as well) as my mother's van got stolen a few weeks ago.

Any tips anyone can give me regarding this will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
