Hey there guys, I've been a lurker on this site for quite a while but this is my first post, and I was hoping you guys could help me out.

I have a 2002 Dak, 5.9L V8 4x4 that's burning oil like a monster. As in, I just changed the oil about a month ago, putting 5qts of Castrol 10w30 in it. Two weeks later, I had to put another quart in. Today, I have to go get at least two more quarts to put in it. This is a consistent problem with the truck.
I read about the 1994-99 Daks having trouble with the plenum pan gasket. Even though mine is an 02, is it worth replacing that before hauling it to the shop and dropping a couple hundred on it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Definitely. To check, remove the airhat off of the TB. With the engine off, open the throttle and look down into the manifold. If you see oil, change the plenum gasket.

I changed my plenum gasket years ago. It was a lot to remove. The only difficult part was taking the fuel lines off. I didnt have the proper tool. I think I got a set of plastic tools for it for about $10.
