Message: I need some help. I need to know the best tire for all year driving. I need 31x10.5x15 tires for my truck.
I live in Nova Scotia, we get a good deal of snow, and used to get lots of rain. The OE tires on now are brutal. Last year I slid into a guy on a cold winter morning, frost on the ground etc. Don't want a replay.
Any advice on good tires for all round use, but focused on mild off road, good rain traction, and decent snow, would be appreciated.
Thanks

Message: The perfect tire is GOODYEAR AT/S. It Drive with just a little road noise and can handle off road really well. They accel in snow and Rain. Very high tech tread pattern.
I have them on my durango 5.9 4x4 and was pushing through 1.5 feet of snow to pull out a friends dakota 4.7 with BFG A/T KO. We were in the same situation but his tires dug mine went forward.
I pulled out a hummer stuck in a snowbank (i did not go through the same snowbank i went around.)
But most of the time im am driving on the highway or just around the city. So this really is a good tire.
I had prevously mostly goodyear but had michelin, BFG, Generals
The worst were the generals man they were dangerous. The michelins were fine but they cracked and wore out way to soon. THe bfgs are good but the tire is an old design that makes to much noise for the same performance as the goodyears. I also found on really cold mornings the tires were rock hard and slid really easy until the temp of the tire went up.

Message: Shark, I was wondering the same thing myself. I'm from NFLD and our winters especially last was bad. I'm shoping for a good winter tire, not an all season. But I was wondering if I should go with studded tires? A couple of tires I have been looking at are Goodyear Ultra Grips (studable) and the Magna Grips HT at Walmart. Both have a lot of swips in the tire with agressive tread and soft rubber.

Message: I agree Mar, the AT/S's are awesome. I have them on my '99 Rodeo and have been considering putting them on my 2001 QC.
My only complaint with them besides the expense was the ride - a lot more harsh. But, they are designed with more off-roading in mind, so I guess one has to expect such things ON the road.
