Subject: 99 sport clunk IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 sport cc 3.9 2x2. When coming to a stop no noise until my truck comes to a dead stop. Then there is a clunking noise from the front end. Just looking for idea on what i should start looking for. Also pulls a little to the right don't know if it has anything to do with the problem

Message: Look at the brake assy, ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm( can't remember waht year went to rack-and-pinion) control arm bushings - upper & lower...look at these on BOTH sides of your rig. Any of these being worn can cause it to pull, just as any of thes can make a 'clunk' if there is enough play. Some require the rig to be jacked up by the control arm (upper/ lower ball joints) while others 'may' be checked with it on the ground (tie rod ends). Sometimes it's easier if it is on a lift where you can get in there and pry a little with a pry-bar (idler arm/ pitman arm). Good luck.

Message: I'd lean toward the upper control arm. More than likely, passenger side since it is closer to the exhaust manifold than the driver side. Ask me how i know that.
