 Subject: Just bought a 88 dakota v6 4x4 ques...

I bought it for the winter so i could take my car off the road, and so i could have a little fun in the mud & snow;-) But my question is, it has 150,000 miles on it, it runs good, and doesn't leak or burn any oil, so how long do these engines usually last, should i be weary or are they usually pretty strong in this respect? I got a pretty good deal on it so im not too worried either way but i was curious. Thanks a lot for any responses, im sure ill be back w/ more question soon, thansk again.

My 2WD 1991 with a 2.5 engine has 170,000 miles on it and is going strong in daily service. Has leaking seals, but the power is still there and it doesn't burn much oil.

The body has no rust, it has a few dings here and there and the clear coat is pealing in a few places. The interior is decent, a few little rips. It also came w/ a bed cap, i paid right under a $1000 for it, i thought i got a pretty good deal, what do u think? thanks again.

If it's mechanically sound you got a good deal. You have room to put another thousand in it to bring it up to snuff and still feel good.

My '89 V6 4x4 has 210,000 miles on it. No problems whatsoever. Started modding it at 206,000, and it really gets up and goes now! You got a great deal in my opinion!

I traded my 88 dak for a 2000,The 88 had 143k on it and never leaked or used any oil,One problem I did have to fix was a little plate in or under the distributer,It won't show up if you hook it up to comp, It just won't run, good luck with your truck
