Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the `98 has 16" wheels...to clear a larger rotor and caliper than earlier years.

um, yeah- if you swap axles. All the daks from about '91-on use a six-bolt pattern, so it is not really practical to modify the old rotors for use on the newer trucks. Why do you want to do this? if you are looking for better braking from your '98, then you should look into swapping parts from a durango into your dakota. there is info on this swap on this website somewhere, so just google search this site or do a general google search for it.

I wasn't looking to swap to get better braking, I wanted to swap to get the 5 lug bolt pattern for better wheel availability. 6 bolt Dakota pattern leaves few choices for the wheel selection.

The studs are not in the rotors, they are in the ends of the axles (rear) and axle shafts (front). Like dakownr said, "You would have to actually swap axles...and rotors to match them...

I realize I would have to swap the rear axle as well, thats not a big deal as I was just giong to replace the entire rear axle assembly with an 8 3/4" B-body diff. It's the front rotors that are the pain in the butt.
