Message: The radio/cassette/equalizer in my "new" 91 4X4 is totally inop. and came that way. The 10A fuse is OK. What's the best way to troubleshoot the power from the fuse block on?
Should I loosen the entire fuse block to get to the backside and go from there? Or, should I remove the dash front panel and remove the radio and start from that end. Thanks.

Message: I would get a 12 volt test light or a multi-tester type tool and start from the back of the radio if I were you. As long as you know what your looking for and know how to use you tools you can check to see if your radio is getting power. And then if its not you can go from there, but if it is then its more than likely the radio. But if you dont know what your looking for dont go messing with all the wires. Just my humble opinion. Also dont forget to check the ground wire in the back of the radio.

Message: Thank You. I can handle the radio and electical techicals alright, it is how to approach this mechanically that is new to me.
This Dakota had commercial 2-way radio installed before, and I noticed some old connections directly to the battery. Am wondering if when the 2-way was removed the AM/FM was not reconnected or some such? I presume it has to connect to the fuse block, but I can't find those connections (at this very early stage) and wonder if the fuse block has to be pulled to get at them?
