Please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there are decible ratings for horns that have increased over the years. Nothing worse than getting into a law suit over something as stupid as 'his horn didn't meet the national safety requirements on noise decibles of a vehicle manufactured in 1998'. I know, it's crazy, but 'ambulance chasers' will use anything to win a case these days. I'm sure if you wired in the horn to be used by an aux. switch or horn button you would be fine, but to replace the factory horn with an 'ooga' horn...well I would be comparing the decible outputs of each.

Good luck!

I wired in an air horn in addition to the factory horn. Because the compressor draws a lot of additional current, I chose to run it off a separate 20A fuse and 30A relay. So the factory horn wire runs to the factory horn, and off of it, I ran a splice to the coil of the new relay, grounding the coil to the fender. The power side of the relay is fed off the 20A fuse right off the battery, and the load side goes to the compressor, and compressor is grounded to the fender.

This way, the factory fuse only powers the factory horn, and the separate 20A fuse runs the new air horn and its relay, and the factory horn button runs it all.
