 Subject: 4x4 transfer case oil

My 2002, 3.9 liter Dakota has been getting a warning light when cold stating "service 4 WD", but clears when the engine/transfer case warms up.
Does anyone know what might cause this warning light to come on?
Also is there a plug you have to remove to check the xfer case oil level.

Yes. It's the same one you have to remove to fill it up.
