 Subject: Key fob signal seems weak?

2001 Dakota. Key fob used to lock/unlock doors with just a touch but lately I have to press and hold the button for several seconds before I get any response from the truck, and even then it's spotty. I get this behavior with both of my key fobs, one that I've used since new and the spare that has been in a drawer since new. I have replaced the two CR2016 batteries in each of the fobs and still get the same result. Is there something I can check on the receiver end in the truck, or what? Thanks for any info you can provide,
