Message: I have a 93 dodge dakota 3.9 and about 2 weeks ago i was driving in the snow and slush when i hit a puddle and the truck started running a little rough.. after 1min it was running fine again ! I parked it over night in the wet and cold and the next day when i went to start it there was nothing.. i fiddled around with some wires around the injectors and main harness tried it a bunch of times then finally it fired.. had to turn it over a couple times untill it ran on all 6 cylinders !! left the truck running for 15 min shut it off and started it a couple times and all was ok.. next morning same thing.. once again got it going by screwing with random wires.. is it just luck or not ???? drove it all weekend and it went fine ( nice weather all weekend ) went to work on monday ran fine.. it started snowing during the day and when i went to leave it started but had trouble.. then ran ok for 2min long enough to get down the road untill it started running rough so i pulled into a gas station to let it warm up and hopefully dry up ?? It then stalled and would'nt start at all.. lost spark completly !!! Checked a bunch of stuff ( wires, dist cap, coil ect all seems fine i think ?? Anyone know what the hell it could be ??? I have no clue...

Message: Sounds like a possible case of condensation inside the distributor cap. Try popping the cap (DON'T disconnect the plug wires) and sparying a bit of brake cleaner inside said cap. Let it evaporate before putting it back in place. Also, look for any corrosion on the 'rotor bug' and inside the cap where it makes contact. Corrosion on this would be gray and powdery looking.
Good luck.

Message: Thanks for the info.. thats what i thought it would be too but I actually got it running today !! It looks like it was the coil.. replaced the coil and it fired right up !! I didn't think it would be the coil because of the way it was acting up before i lost spark ( the starting problem and all)but it looks like it was.. i think.. or it is something else and its just luck that it started after replacing the coil ?? Anyway its running for now and hopefully it stays running !!!!
