Subject: How much did your line-x bedliner cost? IP: Logged
Message: Simple straight foward question? How much did it cost and what's your opinion on under the rail and over the rail? Are colours good; expensive? I would love to get a bedliner, but I do not really know where to start!
Thanks ahead of time!

Message: got the line-x under the rail for about $360 total with tax. the best money i spent yet on the truck. looks very good and is very durable. do not get the rhino. it is too thick, soft, and peels easily. check their website for a coupon. if they don't have any, go to your local magazine store. in some mags, line-x is advertising and they offer a $20 coupon.

Message: I paid $350 under the rails for a Rhino Liner. It is just over a year old and holding up VERY well. I've seen good and bad applications of both Line-X and Rhino. If you have a couple of dealers in your area (they can be few and far between), find out how long each installer has been doing spray on liners and take a good look at their work -- there's almost always a vehicle in the shop being worked on.
I had mine done under the rails and regretted it immediately. Took it back and paid the $100 minimum set up charge to have the rails done (would have only been an extra $25 if it was all done originally). Glad I did it though.

Message: I just had mine sprayed over the rail, and also had my nerf bars sprayed. It took them about 3 hours, but they did an excellent job. I paid about $520 for both the bed and the bars. I would pay it again in a heartbeat. Oh and about the tonneau, I also added a Roll-n-Lock tonneau that same day, and it fit without a problem.
Hope this helps,
Jason

Message: It was $420 for over the rail, $380 for under the rail. I of course went over the rail because if your doing any hauling of branches and stuff the rail gets scratched up a lot. I had a $40 off cupon for Father's Day, so that would take it from $420 to $380... but they charged me $380 and then took $40 off :) I got it for $340 The best $340 I ever spent!

They use a HOT-Spray system, and you can haul
cargo in the bed within about 4 hours.

Message: I don't know a lot about the other spray-on liners, but here is what I do know. The Rhino liner is sprayed on cold, therefore, you can’t use it instantly, and more importantly it will be thinner on the walls than on the bed, so therefore there will be less protection. I have also heard that they use a razor to cut the edges straight (but I don’t know that positively). As for the Line-X, it is sprayed on hot, and is ready to use instantly. Also, since it is sprayed on hot, it will be an even thickness all over, therefore even protection. Plus when they prepare your bed, they use a wire tape along the edge, and then when it is complete they just pull the wire tape up and it cuts a perfect edge. One thing that some people like about the Rhino over the Line-X is that it is a softer coating due to the cold spray, so some things may not slide quite as much. I have seen the Line-X damaged, and I have also seen it replaced, and it looks perfect after the FREE repair. Yes, that is another nice thing about Line-X, it is lifetime guaranteed.
I highly recommend that you read this article to find out just how tough Line-X is:

Message: It appears that the hot application(line-x, armacoat) is better then the cold one(rhino). For those that had it applied above the rails, how does it look? Are they able to make a nice clean line?

Message: I think that it looks excellent. As for the clean line...it is perfect. But, you have to remember that the line is only as good as the person that is doing the work. The nice thing about the place that I went is that I was able to be out there in the shop with them while they worked on it so if I saw anything that I didn't like I could point it out and question them about it.

Message: Before I took my truck in to get the rails done, I used some masking tape, a string line, and a black pen to mark a straight line along the bed rails. I would recommend this to anyone who plans on adding a bed cap or tonneu cover and doesn't want the spray on liner to show -- do it yourself and you'll get the look you want. Personally, I did it so my diamond plate rail caps would completely conceal the liner.
FYI, I have a Rhino Liner, and they used the same technique of wire tape to cut a clean edge, and it turned out quite good.

Message: Well, if you're going to get a cover one day, and know which one it might be, you can visit a dealer and see how they sit on the rails. Of course this can be a shot in the dark if you decide to change your mind. But now is your chance. Once the liner is sprayed, there's no going back.
Of course we're not talking about much -- maybe an 1/8" - 1/4" of reveal, if that. My truck is white with polished diamond plate on the rails, so a thin black strip of liner would have been obvious.
