Subject: AT Fluid? IP: Logged
Message: Hello,
I have a 2000 Dakota, 4.7 liter 4x4 with the automatic transmission 45RFE. Does anyone know off hand how much fluid is needed when you do a fluid and filter change out? I guess you cannot get all the fluid out just by dropping the pan.
Thanks!

Message: Bob,
That explains it. I changed my fluid and filter a few months ago, thinking 5 qts would be enough. Now I am a qt low, so I will add a quart. There are no fluid leaks, so wanted to ask and get some input.
Thanks.

Message: The recommendation I have heard is to always use Mopar brand ATF fluid, as other brands can cause problems. I don't know if that's true or not, but I have always used Mopar ATF and have had good results.
