Subject: POWER STEERING PUMP IP: Logged
Message: Just the other night my 97 dodge dakota sport (3.9 v6 magnum) 2wd got stuck in a lil mud and I had to call my buddy to snatch me out.. upon gettin unstuck I realized how hard it was to steer my truck.. my first assumption was that the power steering had gone out or the pump or somethin did. Is there any other thing that may have brok thats making my truck so difficult to turn and steer?

Message: A power steering hose could have broke, or the drive belt for the P/S could have broke, or just loosened up. (especially if a hose broke and shot oil onto the belt. And yes the pump could have gave up as well. Check the P/S oil first and see if its low, if so add some and see what happens. Oh yeah, some thing could have gotten bent or broken and being "Pulled Out" could have hurt something.
Good Luck
