Subject: Strange problem/ Any Ideas I can do? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 dodge dakota, v-6 3.9LT. The engine runs strong and good power. Smooth idle also. But the truck throughs out a code even after I clear it that there is a misfire in cyl. 4. No work has been done to the truck recently either. If I listen real close when engine is cold I can hear out the exhaust pipe a mis. I did a vacuum test, nice and strong steady vacuum and rev the engine quick, nice vacuum readings. I did a compression test and all the cylinders tested right around 135 psi except cylinder 4, it tested 80 psi. Doesnt make sense with vacuum test. Anyway there is spark at cylinder and injector and wiring all test good and truck runs good. But with check engine light on I cant get truck inspected. Is there anything I missed I could do? All Ideas would be great.
Thanks as always.

Message: That 80psi is low. Could be a leaking valve seat or a broken or worn piston ring. That has got to be why the code keeps returning.
