My dakota is overheating. I'm guessing the exhaust is getting into the coolant.
Replacing the headgasket looks simple enough but I'm wondering if the head bolts are torque to yield. So,will I absolutly need a new set?
I just bought the truck knowing about the overheating problem. I don't wanna take the head to the machine shop. Is that just not an option? I'll get a Chiltons today, but does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Message: First thing I would do is go through the entire cooling system. What leads you to believe your head gasket is the problem?Overheating can be cuased by anumber of things. A leak in the system, partially clogged radiator, worn fan clutch, etc...
