Subject: Won't start or crank IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 3.9 manual dak that won't start. Battery charged
fully. When I turn the key I hear a single click then I loose a
power. My dash goes out and I have no lights or anything.
After this I can't get power till I disconnect the battery for a
while. What would cause this?
Some history-I was able to stop and start the truck two time
on quick 5 minute drives, then my third stop was to a car
wash to spray out my bed only. My cab forward never got
wet (left tbe windows down). When I tried to start the truck I
got the issue above. I was able to jump it and drive home but
now it's in my driveway and I can't even jump it.

Message: I would start by getting the battery load tested.
Notice Load tested not just tested.

Message: If your battery cables and ends are clean and in good condition, look to the starter solenoid. I'd replace the whole starter.

Message: I would check the battery cables, the best way is to completely remove them and clean both ends and see how much ohm's they have, it should be very little, if its more than 3-4 I would replace them.
Good Luck

Message: Try bypassing the clutch safety switch. If it is malfunctioning, you won't be able to start it.

Message: Looking back at the original post I see that following the click, the dash went dark. Gotta be a bad cable end or dirty connection. Need to really clean those things hard. I've seen corrosion inside the crimps which necesitate replacing the cable.
