Subject: Where is oil pressure switch on 2002 4.7 IP: Logged
Message: I think that I need to change the oil pressure switch on my 02 4.7 dakota. The truck used to be like clockwork - pressure was at the lower tick at stoplights and almost at the higher tick when moving...rarely in between. The past two weeks I noticed that it will slowly go back and forth between the two hash marks on the guage for no reason when driving.
So, I am going to replace the oil pressure switch to see if that is the problem. Thus, I have 2 questions:
1) Where is the oil pressure switch (sending unit) on my 2002 4.7L engine?
2) Is there somewhere better/cheaper to buy a new one than at the dealership? If so, where? (a part number would be great).
Thanks for the help.

Message: It is directly above the oil filter. Remove the splash shield to gain access to the filter area and look above the filter. A flashlight will help.
