Subject: Exhaust Smell IP: Logged
Message: I just traded in my S-10 Vortex for a 93 Dakota.
Right off the bat I noticed a different smell of exhaust from the
Dakota. I dont want this to sound like I go around smelling exhaust
pipes, but what a difference in smells!
Why is that?

Message: Different catalyst chemicals cause different smells.
Dodge typically has mild rotten egg smell.
Also, more complete the combustion equals less smell, because the catalyst has less raw gas to deal with. Perhaps a tune-up is in order.

Message: Tune up was done when I got the truck home, buddy scanned for
codes and no codes. The V6 has 210, 000 miles and it runs like a
charm. The cat is hollowed out buddy says.
