Message:
Does anyone know the difference in transmission cooling lines from a 95 V6 Dakota and a 93 V8 Dakota? Is it just a matter of different connectors to the radiator?

I have a 93 V8 Dakota now. I think the prior owner installed some cheap rubber hoses for these cooling lines and I want to switch to steel lines, but the dealership no longer has pre-bent, steel lines for a 93. Eight years ago I bought pre-bent, steel lines for my 95 V6 Dakota (which I no longer have). The dealership still has these pre-bent steel lines available. This leads me to the question at the top.

Thanks for your help

Even though the dealership does not have the lines in stock, he should still show them in the parts list for a `93. Ask him to compare the part numbers to a `95s part numbers...V8 and V6. If one of them matches the `93 part numbers, problem solved. I have done this in the past with older vehicles I have owned with good success. If they don't match, you still have another option. Check with one of the chain auto parts stores. They should be able to do the same thing.

Good luck

Of course you could always have the tubes bent and installed for you at a certified transmission shop. But I would disconnect the old lines and use for the a pattern for the new one.
