I am about to place an order for a 2002 QC and would like to know if the center councel that comes with the bucket seats gets in the way of the stick shift? Would the 40/60 split bench be better with the type of fold down arm rest that comes with them with respect to room for shifting?

I love mine. Real comfortable in my opinion. Test drive both trucks before and see which is better for you.

yes it does get in the way. 1st to second is bs.
I took it out around 5k but found i needed it
more for storage than racing capabilities. The
shifts are slow anyways. youll get used to it.
Not sure about bench seating since buckets
rule for comfort.

I ordered (and now own) a 2001 QC with the 5spd.
I have the bucket seats (kinda, go to my link below to see what I am talking about) and yes, the counsel gets in the way in one big way - the cup holder.

When you shift into 2nd or 4th, you will smash anything larger than a soda can if it is in the cup holder in front of the stick.

Makes me mad everytime I think about it that Dodge allowed such a thing to be produced. All they had to do was move it to the left about 2".

Thought you'd like to know.

I got the 60/40 bench the fold down arm rest is pretty funtional and the seats are surprisingly comfortable. However the entire middle portion of the seat is wasted space. Too small for a passanger really. So you got foam and springs taking up precvious storage space.

I know....I know......

I will just have to get those little orange juices that you get from McDonnalds. They are never big enough for anything and should hide well from being squished.

lol

I have the 40/20/40 "bench" seat. It is actually two separate bucket seats. The "20" is a jump seat that has it's "feet" riveted to the inside feet of the buckets, and the securing bolts go through both sets of feet to the floor, making a "bench seat" assembly. I may just grind the rivets and remove the jump seat and put my own after market console and CD changer in.
