Subject: Sway Bar? Help please. IP: Logged

Is the front stabilizer bar and the sway bar the same thing? I am getting a loud creaking noise when I go over bumps or pull into drive-way. I figured out it is coming from the front stabilizer bar.(sway bar?)Is there a way to grease some parts or do I have to replace? Is this easy to repair?
Thanks!

Message: ya there both the same, just depends on what state you in. If the rubber is not falling apart, seams to be ok, spray them down with a good quilty silicone spray or remove the hold down and grease them. If they are bad replace them with new bushings that have grease fittings (aftermarket)Usally not to costly. Hope this helps

Message: 115 k and you are only hearing them for the first time? There used to be lots of posts on this same topic! It's the rubber at the ends. Run through a puddle and don't worry about it!
Technically it is "anti-sway bar" and "stabilizer bar." It transfers load from the outside corner to the inside. On race-cars they are adjustable and if too "tight" will lift the inner wheel (& tire) off the pavement on a hard turn.

Message: I had this happen before. I used to go through brackets once a year until I got some brakets from pep boys that had a grease fitting. Now I simply grease them up each time I change the oil. It only takes one squirt in each bracket. No more popping them apart since.
