Subject: Brake Lights Always On -- HELP!!
IP: Logged

Message:
I've been working on my dad's 05 Dakota (3.7L V6, no ABS) trying to fix his seized up brakes, and I've encountered a bit of an issue I am unsure about how to fix.

It all started with a seized front right caliper. That got replaced and while bleeding the brakes I noticed the rear left line was kinked and needed replacing. So I did that too, and went ahead and purged all the lines using an air compressor cuz the fluid looked like coffee and was just gross as hell.

So after those two parts got done, I was unable to successfully bleed the brakes. Pedal kept sinking to the floor when I'd turn the car on no matter how many times I bled them. So I replaced the master cylinder, but no luck. Replaced the brake booster, but no luck. Then finally noticed that the auto parts store gave me the wrong side caliper as the bleeder was on the bottom and not the top, so after getting the right caliper the pedal issue finally went away.

But ever since I replaced the booster the brake lights wont go off. The pedal doesn't come back far enough to hit the switch. I even put the stock booster back in and still no luck. Can the switch the adjusted? How about the pedal? Maybe the rod going to the booster?

Please advise. Thank you!!

I hope thats not powersteering fluid that was beeing bleed from the brakes. Of course, it would take a complete idiot to do that; but sometimes people just don't think before they act.

I would take you dad's truck to repair shop and see what they make out of it; or look for a same year truck altogether.
