Subject: Tailgate swap
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 89 Dakota with a rusty tailgate. I also have a tailgate from an 95 Dakota with a brake light. Where should I splice in the wire so the light works with out blinking with the turn signals? or will it work at all? Thx

If it fits ok , the center light could be 'spliced ' in to the brake wires , but - gets complicated .
Need a diode from each side to feed it .
If you go this way - the bar on the diodes
is the end to splice to that center light .
The other ends go to each side brake light connection..

splice it to the high mounted center brake light.
-OR-
if you have a 7-pin trailer connector, one of those pins is brake light, and the turn signals are different pins.
