Message: The miles on the odometer could mean alot or not so
much. It all depends on how well the truck was kept
up with. One word here says it all "Maintenance"
I would suggest pulling the trans stick out,
Check color and smell for odor.
As well for the oil

Message: I have 186k and no problems so far beyond regular maintenance. I recently lost 3rd gear but a simple trans fluid change fixed that. I didnt do it for 77k miles. I think I was a bit intimidated to do it myself but the hardest part was properly torquing the bolts and finding the proper fill level.
Beyond that, the only thing that broke in the past 6 years was the resistor pack for the blower... it happened twice in that time. Its a silly $7 part and takes two screws to replace.

Message: I would personally never buy a used 4 wheel drive with that many miles. Even under the best care, drive line issues will crop up or engine issues or tranny or transfer case issues.

Message: still, my dakota has 215,000 miles on everything ut the engine and tranny
i havent had any MAJOR repair bills, i rebuilt the rear end but only because i was tearing it apart to put in a locker
replaced a few CV shafts due to entering mud bogs, actually, replaced and broken a few things doing that :-D
other than that, the engine, tranny, and t-case has 147,000 on it. I have never done any major repairs to any of it. Just replaced small easy stuff here and there

Message: Now i'm well aware that is not the real Daddio on the second post attached to his handle....but that was pretty damm funny nonetheless, as for the mileage question, i dont think 150k is all that much, but it doesnt mean its a good deal or a bad deal without the price, ive got three 89 daks all with well over 260k and no major work done to em yet other than rear end gears on one of em....and they are all 6 poppers. So 150k on a V-8....not bad.
