Subject: truck jumps at start IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone could help diagnosis an issue. I
have a 97 Dakota 5.2 standard and when I start it while the
transmission is.ingaged, clutch in, it jumps. It doesn't matter
what gear. When tranny isn't in gear it doesn't jump. Any
thoughts?

Message: The clutch is not fully disengaging the engine from the transmission with the clutch pressed it. Could be a worn out clutch disk, pressure plate, or throw out bearing. Since the clutch is hydraulic i dont think there is an adhustment.

Message: If the clutch was the problem wouldn't I
have this issue more often, not just from
a cold start? It shifts on the drive and
engages when running like normal.
Thanks for the response.

Message: You may want to check the clutch hydraulic system for leaks. It sounds like it's not disengaging the clutch all the way.
