I have a '96 4x4 318. The t-case will shift into 4hi, but it doesn't like to stay there. Whenever it is shifted into 4hi and the 4x4 light is on, the front wheels have power, but sometimes whenever the light isn't on, they will have power, also. There are never any grinding sounds, nor are there any other sounds or vibrations, etc. I can tell when the t-case will slip back into 2hi because there won't be that "click" feeling and sound when put into 4hi. Oddly, whenver the t-case is shifted into 4hi whenever I am moving, it seems as though it will stay there more readily than when it is shifted at a standstill.

Also, does anybody know of any literature on the np-231 t-cases, or t-cases in general, for that matter? I know very little of t-cases and would very much like to know as much as possible. Thank you.
