The check engine light comes on from time to time. I get these two FCs. Both show to be heater sensor cercuit failure (O2 sensors). How common is it for both banks to go at the same time?

sure why not

"Think"
If they are both original factory parts
Then they have both seen/had the same amount of use

Forget the troll... Its not common for both to fail at the same time, but it does happen. Be sure of your engine tune (how old are the plugs?) before you install the new sensors.

Thank you Old Dak. I don't pat attention to trolls.

The truck has well over 200K on it and I have been so hung up on the check engine light and the codes that are associated with the light that I never thought about the simple. This truck has been the best I have ever had. I have done nothing outside of the normal PM.

It has been a long time since the plugs were changed so that is what will happen today after work. I will clear the codes and report back with the results.

Thank you again and have the happiest of holidays.

PS, now to get the shifter ffigured out.

Plugs were at .080 gap and burned away pretty bad. Let's see if this works. Thanks again.

Well, the plugs didn't do it. The check engine light came on this morning after idling for a few minutes. I guess I'll start changing the O2 sensors. There are four on this truck. With those codes which are the ones that are bad?

your first post said that the codes came out to be heated o2 sensors. If memory is with me, thats the forward sensor on the left and right side. If they have never been changed, you may want to change all four due to age. The point about the plugs was not to put new o2 sensors into a rich running engine due to worn plugs. Remember to disconnect the battery for a while to flush the memory so it goes back to basic program. Otherwise it still thinks you have worn plugs.
