Message: 2002 dakota quad cab 5.5 box. Bed has never been protected and is currently scratched, dinged, chipped and even some small spots where the paint was chipped that has surface rust. Actually I'm really impressed how the bed has held up. I'm thinking about putting a bed liner in the truck. My first instinct is to go with a spray in. I was wondering if putting in a plastic drop in liner would be safe or will it be a moisture trap and speed up the rust process for the existing scratches and surface rust?

Message: moisture is always an issue with bed liners. the problem area is
around the wheel wells, i drill a few small holes 1/8 in the liner
around the wells and every year i spray a wet rustproofing in there.
i dab a little silicone over the holes and the wells are holding up.

Message: I like my spray in, except if your moving things in and out of the bed its not as easy as if it were plastic.
Saves me from tying heavy items down if I'm only going for a short drive.
And of course no trapped moisture issues.
