Message:
What would cause a 1996 Dakota 2WD to clunk from the passenger side front end when I drive over a bump?

Thanks in advance.

Check the ball joints. Does it "clunk" when you are braking? Or braking and turning to the left?

Should also check Shock, Broken or worn & body mounts.

I do not hear a clunk when I brake or turn to the left. I replaced the upper joints a few years ago. Do I possibly need to replace them again or is it more likely that I need to now replace the lower?

I will also check the shocks and mounts as suggested.

The sound when I ride over a bump is like "c-clunk" in two distinct sounds. Is that consistent with a lower ball joint that pops out and then back into place?

My 98 was doing exactly that then it progressed not just to speed bumps but to braking as well and it turned out to be the radius arm bushing.
