 Subject: loss of voltage

My '03 Quad cab's dash lites will start to alternate, dim & brighten, then the check gauges lite comes on & the voltmeter/ammeter bottoms out. Turn off & on & is usually ok for awhile. Sometimes takes several tries before everything comes back to normal. Any ideas?

Hey Garth to expand on my previous post.
Some Dakotas had issues with the dash ground wire.
As best I can describe, It was up around the drivers side steering wheel area and under the drivers side kick panel E-brake area.
Hope this helps.
