Subject: 1998 2.5 Dak, no run IP: Logged
Message: Been trying to figure out this poor Dakota for a while now, with no luck.
It has the 2.5L 4 cylinder, five speed manual.
Was driving down the road, and it just quit running with a noticable bang, and haven't gotten it to run since. It cranks over, but doesn't start.
As it is, right now, turn the key on, get fuel pressure, but there is no power to the coil.
Can a jumper be wired to the coil without burning up anything?
It's been suggested to look at the crank sensor, but we can NOT find it. Where is it? Everyone describes that the sensor is on the bellhousing...but that is for an automatic, and we haven't found it on the manual tranny.
Thanks for any help!

Message: Good one! It isn't mine, it's my dad's. Some people do need fuel economy, ya know?
If it'll make you happy, I have a 4.7 Dak.

Message: Yeah but what fuel economy? The old AMC based engine is always understrain from a heavy midsized truck. If that's the case I would buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I think you can still get one with a Benz Diesal.
