Subject: Compression Issue? IP: Logged
Message: I've had this problem for a while. While I'm
driving on the interstate, I'll be going up a hill
and have the vent on and blowing out the vents. As
I'm going up the hill and give it gas to stay up
to speed the vent air gets diverted to the defrost
or just gets blocked off totally, then as I top
the hill and let off the gas it comes back.
Someone told me that the vent diverter is linked
with the engine pressure. Is this right? if so,
how would I go about fixing this?
It also won't crank when it's cold sometimes. I
just crank it and it turns over but doesn't fire.
Could this have to do with compression. I replaced
the 02 sensor after the cat, replaced spark plug
wires and sp plugs.

Message: A vacuum issue, not a compression issue. Mine does that every now and then. I haven't even bothered looking into it.
As far as the other issue, you probably need to finish your tune up with a new cap and rotor. Wires and spark plugs does not a complete tuneup make. At least not on your '99.
