Subject: Engine Oil Flush -- Biodiesel ?? IP: Logged
Message: I used to get the engine oil flush can at the auto parts store once a year to clean any sludge out of my engine. Not sure if it worked at all but it made me feel a better. Anyway, I can't find it any more and I am pretty sure it was just kerosene. It came in a steel can and you had to open with the pointy type end of a bottle opener.
Anyway, just curious if anyone has considered or tried using biodiesel as a engine oil flush. My research as an undergrad focused on this stuff and it cleaned carbon and engine oil super well. I know it degrades natural rubbers over prolonged exposure. I am curious if this carbon cleaning ability would do well to clean out the inside of my engine. I am willing to try it yet, my 99 R/T only has 40k miles on it and I dont wanna risk my baby.
Thoughts?

Message: Seafoam is made to use in the crankcase before oil changes. Why not give it a try? Just make sure you follow the directions on the label.

Some shops offer engine flush services. If you can find out, i recommend having it done once a year.

My grandfather lived by this stuff & always got more miles out of the old engines then anyone I've ever seen or even heard of.
