 Subject: 3.7 to 4.7 swap?

i have a 2006 dakota and i really want to swap in the v8 (4.7) in to it. has any of you done this swap or know of any good links to people who have done it?
also what years and vehicles did the 4.7 come in?
and will i need to upgrade the tranny?
i am trying to beef up my truck so i can pull my race car around.

The 4.7 was introduced to the Jeeps in '99; and the Dakotas in '00. But be careful, there are differences in the tone ring system through the years. You would want a 4.7 PCM for your year and specifics of truck, and a 4.7 that will be compatable with that year. An '06 would work for sure, maybe someone else can help with compatable years.
