Subject: Lights Won't Turn Off IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT
4x4 V6 Automatic with Extended Cab
The vehicle is in park with the ignition turned off and the key in my pocket.
1. The interior lights remain on.
2. The backup lights on top of the cab are on also.
With these lights on the battery was drained completely overnight.I removed the battery cables and then recharged the battery. As soon as I reconnected the battery cables those lights came back on.The key was not in the ignition.

Message: Roll the thumb knob on the headlight switch so the dash lights are at their dimmest setting. That will turn off the interior lights if the door is shut, and turn off that white light on the third brake light (cargo lamp).

Message: what if the little push button switch thing in between the door and cab is bad. which would cause the lights to remain on even with out the key. they would light just like you left the door open its bad. i would check their on both sides. let us know what you find
