Message: Loud rattling from the A/C is definitely NOT normal. Could be the compressor going out or could just be a bad belt tnesioner.
Is the A/C working alright?

Message: Whoever "he" is was wrong. NO compressors are noisy unless there is a problem. When they start making noise they usually don't have a long time left for this world unless they're taken care of quickly.

this sort of thing is always among the first things to do.

Message: Look for R-134A oil charge. If not at Wally World go to an auto parts house. I have a feeling if it's making that much racket the oil charge won't help.

the ester oil unlike standard A/C oil is made just for such a problem
When you find it read the can!
and I highly recommend Interdynamics
and only 2 ounces,
You've nothing to lose (ok what 3-4$)
Give it a try

Message: Ester is compatable with the oils of both R12 and R134 which is why its used with convertions. If you have a original r134 system, you should stay with the pag oil, even though ester will work. Its just better to stay with the one oil.
