Speed is life!!! ;) Just don't tell that to the cop that let me off last nite. Got a verbal warning for goin 36 in a 20. Officer was also very impressed and said i have a nice truck..:) Time for a new radar detector;)

Speed: Narcotic = Hell No (I was stupid in highschool...but wised up a long time ago.)
Speed: Driving fast and getting from Point A to Point B in a quick amount of time...HELL YEAH!

I think he meant that question in a non-gender-specific kind of way.
On the hiway, I generally try and keep it within about 10 mph of the speed limit. That generally keeps me from having to show my ID very often. Although I will admit to occasionally trying to break the sound barrier.... on deserted stretches of hiway.

I speed. I have a problem. :-)
I usually go five over in town (no tickets result)and eight over on the highway (no tickets result). Always very careful in the rain, and usually with a huge following distance. Above that, I have twice passed 100mph, all for the fun of it. The governor's nice and smooth - love it! I figure that if done on a straight-away, with very slim traffic (i.e. none at all), it's safe. The only moron I'll take out is myself, which is sorta responsible.
Well, passed it three times including all previous vehicles. An '84 Toyota Camry topped out there due to power and only managed it, I'm convinced, because my anger fueled it; the Dakota topped out there twice due to governor.
Excellent post, Wayne! I don't do THAT speed, but excellent nonetheless! :-)
Where's Dr. Q? He's got to have a comment on all THIS!

I only speed under the close supervision of a physician! HAHA! Seriously I haven't gotten a ticket in ten years. Funny enough I use Zaurusman's rules @ 5 in town 9 on the interstate, 99.9% of the time, and you know once in a while you gotta clean the carbon deposits off the valves. HAHA! Funny, my wife who works a lot of trauma, and is continually lecturing to people about seatbelts speeding etc. got her licence suspended last year for too many tickets! and she's gotten two already this year-in a camry. HAHA!

Just so everyone will know, I do drive fast. I'm an adrenaline junkie. I have a fast boat, dirt bike, and car too. I am a volunteer fireman to add to that. I have never done speed althought I did smoke a joint or 2 while in the Army in '69 to '71. I rarely even take a sip of alcohol. So, Ashlyn, I drive fast on road, off road, and in the water......but I do it sober. Gotta'go! Firealarmjustwentoff.

I prefer to do just the opposite... I also find the right lane rather claustraphobic. I prefer to drive in the far left lane.
I also think that 65 is much to fast for a highway, escpecially with all those mean people out there. So i usually do the minimum (45) which is still to fast in my oppinion.

i drive to and from work on the highway in major traffic (Boston Mass to New Hapshire). You dont do what everyone else does, youll hear about it.
I find that in any givven week my speed will vary from 10 under (55 in 65) as a constant, to 20 over (85 in a 65). Then of course is the traffic if i leave late... 15 tops. for miles...
like a giant parking lot.
Yes, i speed. I also use discrection. You have to watch all your mirrors. Watch for the light bar and multiple antennas. Do you know your local PD's Headlight layout? Hah! best learn it!

Last year I moved from Chicago where commuting is an exercise of social Darwinism. God help you if you not going at least 20 over the speed limit in the left lane or you'll get a semi suppository. Then I move to Missouri where the concept of "Slower Traffic Keep Right" hasn't quite caught on-they JUST got indoor plumbing. So while the speed limit on the interstate is 70 people are taking the option of going 60 in the LEFT lane!!! I think it was Charley Brown that said it best-"ARRRRGH!"

It isn't that I like to speed (actually I do) but I need to go as fast as I can to get away from all the idiots on the road.
I'm fighting a losing battle though, there are just too many of them.

Speed? I live for g forces in curves.Nothing like finding the limits of tires, suspension, and nerves all in a deserted highway natch. As for speed, we can,t speed in DAK,S, i haven't perfected my adapter kit for the Enterprise warp nacelles yet.........but i'm close.

been to kansas? how can you NOT speed@! there is nothing out there, but maybee the lonely cow... However, watch for cops, they run in Z28 camaros... gotta catch em out there... no other income!

Speed, one of God's greatest creations.
I do speed in my Dak. With the 3.9L of a 1990, that is realitive. Only 125 HP with 31's, normally run between 65-80 mph. Live in S. Fla, Flat and straight country roads.
The Best Speeding is in my 1985 5.0 Mustang GT. Can easliy get up to 65-70 in 3rd gear, up to 120+ in 5th. Have not taken it much past that. Get alittle nervous when the dotted line on the road gets to be solid! have known people bite the big one doing that! Unfortunately they are not with us anymore.
But I still love my Dak more than anything!
