Yeah, it can be done while still in vehicle, most are, and once you remove the valve body the bulk of the work can be done on a work table. Unless you do it all the time, the arms get tired quickly. I did a B&M kit in a 727 many years ago, and it was out of the car. Very little more in a kit for the A500/518 lineage (all derived from the 904/727), because most of the mods address the "Front 3" section, though the OD benefits as well. It's straight-forward. Just plan on taking your time and read the instructions. You may want to order a transmission book from the ATSG bookstore to gain some very useful info and illustrations. Should be done at a leisurely pace in about 4 hrs. If it takes 6 hours, no big deal. Experienced installers can easily do in less than 2 hrs. How do I know it works? The replacement unit in my Shelby was bought new with goodies, including the Fairbanks version of essentially the same kit as the TransGo. You can do it. If you're curious about what's actually in a shift kit, check out the PATC page:
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm
It's a big page. Scroll down about 1/4 and you'll see the shift kits they offer, and you can see what's in the Fairbanks package.
Case you're wondering, I got the Viper 518. Excellent.

thanks a lot ,you've been a big help, it's always reassuring to have a little added information before tackling something new. transmission work just seems to be very touchy and i don't want to ass it up... so i'll definately take my time. thanks again i really appreciate the information.
