Is there a quick fix for a fuel regulator on a 1995 5.2 V8 Dakota without dropping the fuel tank? I did this 5 years ago when I put in a whole new fuel pump in which the regulator and fuel level indicator are attached.

Someone on this site actually cut a hole in their bed and made an access flap to make it easier.
I plan on doing the same if my fuel pump goes out again. The first time was after 30,000.
There was a post on this issue awhile back and it sounded easier to lift the bed if you have someone to help you out(you might actually need a couple people).

Good luck.

Is this your daily driver? If not it might be time to throw a solid axle down there.

Does anyone know what size/what vehicle would be a good choice to cannibalize for the easiest fitment? There is a local jeep guy who is getting rid of everything in his yard for fairly cheap because the city is telling him he can no longer have his yard downtown.

My truck is no longer my daily driver and its paid for, so I'm beginning to get some ideas.

Yeah man
Raise the bed and set it back on the tires
then you can consider cutting the bed floor for easy access next time

last thing you want to do is start cutting the bed floor right over the gas tank
unless your sts
in which case i would say use a torch and cut away!

RANDOM TIP for STS

When you remove your fuel pump
drop your shop light into the gas tank
this is a good way to check for cracks in the tank

if the shop light doesn't give you enough light
use a road flare!
