Message: I have used Perilli's on previous vehicles and loved them. I put a set of scorpions on my 2wd V-6 and have been disappointed. Poor wet/snow traction even with several sandbags. Also, Perilli seems to make a softer tire giving a better ride and more traction, however this cuts the treadlife. I already need to replace them and I have less than 40k on them.

Message: I have a 2000 quad v6 with Perilli Scorp. zero, 19000 miles and they are horrible. They don't wear evenly, even when rotated and balanced as required. Cupping, uneven wear patterns, noisy and bumpy. The first 15000 miles they were great. Any one else have this problem. My tire dealer says they see it all the time, it's the reason they quit selling them.

Message: DaveN
The 275 70 16 is a bit taller than the 265 70 16
275 is the diameter and 70 is the width.
I have 265 70 16 BFG A/T on my 01 Dak 4x4 and love them, especially the tri-gaurd 3 ply sidewalls.
31 inch is the tallest tire you can put on a stock Dakota. The 275 70 16 would rub the fender wells, IMHO.
Good Luck Dude,

Message: I pulled the Wrangler RTS's that came from the factory after about 30,000 miles. They were terrible on wet pavement, and not great on snow either. Before my Dakota I owned an S10 which I still had for use as a plow truck. It had a set of Cooper Discoverer AT's with about 60,000 miles on them, so I swapped them with the Wranglers. The Coopers were a big improvement in traction, but ride vibration and noise were noticeably worse. The AT's are an aggressive pattern like the BFG AT/KO. Overall I thought the Coopers were good, especially for what they cost. I ended up getting about 80,000 miles out of them.
I just put on a new set of Bridgestone Dueller AT/Revo's. I had been all set to get the BFG AT/KO's, but changed at the last minute based on reviews at tirerack.com. The ride is much smoother and quieter despite the aggressive tread pattern. Since putting them on, I have been having the engine problems outlined here;
http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/14748.html
so I haven't been able to drive the truck much. Definitely nice on dry roads, but we'll have to see what happens when the snow flies.

Message: Save your money and buy cooper discover A/T. They ride great and handle great and last just as long as the more expensive tires. I've had nothing but good luck with coopers. for the price you can't beat them. Besides it's a 4X4 truck it's not a cadilac who gives a crap about a soft ride.

Message: I did a lot of research on tirerack.com and some other e-opinion websites and decided on and bought some Dunlop Radial Rover ATs. I got them on sale for a hell of a price and so far they have been good on wet and dry pavement, and good back in some mud (not super deep) driving back to deer camp. Haven't had snow yet so I can't report there. They ride pretty nice on the highway with only slightly more noise than my stock goodyears. For the price you may want to check out their reviews, others have had good luck with these tires, especially with lighter trucks and SUV's, not necessarily with heavier vehicles. I hope I have the luck a lot of the reviewers I read have had.

Message: Update:60,000 miles and the Yokahama tires still have tons of tread left.Freind put Scorpions on his full size same time I changed mine and he already had to change his.
Would go with 35 psi though, got a little squirrly on a corner one day.
Handle rain ,mud, and anything you can throw at them. Also are a lot quieter than stock tires.

Message: I also really like the Bridgestone Dueler tires on a Dakota. Excellent mud/snow traction and they are surprisingly quiet, they ride soft for what they are and handle corners well. They are about $95 each but they are worth it to me. I have them on my 93' Dak and am switching them to my 97' since they only have 15K on them now.

Message: Matt: I have R/T 17x9 wheels with Michelin LTX Pilot 255/55/17. That is the stock R/T size (28" tall). Going larger will raise your gear ratio (lower numerical), and affect your performance and speedometer settings slightly. If you do go 1" diameter change, get your PCM flashed to correct your speedo.

Message: I've always been a fan of BFG A/T KO's, 31x10.5x15, but I'm not so sure they'll look as good on my 2000 QC Dak as I would hope. Anyone have any comparison as far as looks/performance go between the BFG A/T KO's and the Bridgestone Dueller REVO's?
