Message: i have a 1999 dodge dakota 5.2 automatic 4x4, it has over 200,000 miles on it . a few months ago i had a problem with the transmission not wanting to upshift(when cold), did a filter change and problem solved... then a few weeks ago trans started slipping when shifting into 2nd gear so i maxed out the adjustment on the throttle valve cable and that seemed to do the trick, briefly... problem came back so i installed a boneyard trans that supossedly had 82,000 miles on it and i still have to have the trottle valve cable maxed out or it will slip going into 2nd...wonder if the cooler could be restricted??? any advice would be appreciated ... thank you

Message: Hey it could be worse, at lest your's will back up my '94 will not.
I've been thinking about going to the junk yard myself and getting one that is at lest in decent shape. But your always taking a chance unless you can take it to a transmission shop and test it out yourself.

Message: Anti-drainback valve in the transmission line could be sticking, thus restricting flow. They are notoriously problematic. Removing the valve will cure the potential problem area, but the converter will drain overnight, requiring a few seconds to re-prime on startup....unless you add a TransGo, Fairbanks, or Superior tranny kit.
