OK, here is the dilema. I have this horrible clunking banging sound under the driver's side floor. I can feel it in the floor and sometimes it is accompanied by a squeaking sound. It is also audible in the vehicle. I have read many posts on this and have tried all options. Ball joints, steering rack, tie rods, suspension were replaced and there seems to be nothing loose. the rest of the components are all good. Myself, 2 mechanics and the dumb dealer could not find what it is. Also, when it starts to squeak, if i spray wd-40 inside the left fender and down the left side of the firewall the squeak stops but the clunking is still there. It also seems to clunk worse sometimes than others. It can only be heard while driving over bumps at any speed. If you shake the truck bounce it it doesnt make the noise, also no noise moving steering wheel bsck snd forth. Could it be the Intermediate shaft? Please help me before i drive it off of a cliff.

Oh and let me add that the squeaking sounds like it is coming from the windshield area.

Hi,

Just out of curiosity, did you put the truck on a hoist and check the rear end? I am dealing with this issue right now on my 05'. The axle shafts slide back and forth causing a clunking noise while going over speed bumps, turning into driveways..etc. When it clunks you also feel a vibration in the floorboard. If you put the truck up on a hoist, grab one of the rear tires and pull in/out. Do not shake or move side to side, pull directly in/out. If you hear a clunk you know it is in the rear end. Do this with both rear tires.

rjp82, have you checked the cab mounting bolts?

I have checked the bolts and they seem as tight as can be. I had thought that might be the problem because of the nerf bars, but its all tight. And I did have it on a hoist, no axle movement in the front or rear.
