Great looking trucks. It puts Ford and GM to
shame. Only two things I believe that's really
hurting Chrysler's lineup of trucks including the
Dakota is its poor gas mileage and weak auto
trannys. The 3.7 V6 I have in a 04 Liberty Jeep
gets very poor mileage over the larger 4.7 V8 I
had in a 02 Dakota 4x4. Forget the hungry Hemi's!
When Chrysler engineers came up with ways to shut
down cyclinders in the Hemi, I knew I never
wanted one.
And for their trannys, it's a fact, you're VERY
luckey to see 100k without having some sort of
trouble.
FORGET THE LIFE TIME WARRENTY ALSO! It's a total
joke! Read the fine print guys. You'll soon see
it's all geared for them, NOT YOU.
Now I suppose I just opened the door to a hand
full of guys that will say they got well over
X amount of MPG with their trucks or well over
100K and no tranny problems yet. Yes, there will
always be some good ones out there. I'm speaking
for the guys that don't have the luck you do.

never had a tranny problem on any dodge trucks me or my family has had
from 1990 3.9 auto, 5.2 auto, two 46REs, 3 48Res and a 47RE
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

Well arn't you lucky, I still say the A518's was crap. The 44Re (A-500-510?) was a bit better as for as reliability goes.
The 318 V8's was mated to the 44HD transmission.
I like the look of the new HD's. There really no excuse why Chrysler shouldn't gain more shares of the Heavy duty pickup truck market (class3&5) just by looking on the specs and intervation of the new trucks.
