Message: chrysler is going under because they built sh!tty vehicles. plus they get horrible gas mileage. at least chevy builds a truck that gets decent mileage and has what you need... and then some. not to mention that they don't break down every day like a dodge. I mean come on here, they are trying to merge with an italian company just to stay from going under! how sad.... when are you people going to smarten up and buy something worth a fuk?

Message: That's weird, everyone I know that has had a chev/gmc has lots of electrical problems. An S10 I had went through 5 sets of ball joints, 4 speedometer sensors, leaked oil like crazy since new, and every light bulb in it was burning out all the time. All the dealer said was that is normal for GM products. Another full size GMC 3500 I had needed an engine rebuild, tranny was shot too. So far I've had luck with Fords and Dodges. I think I'll stay with them. To the original poster, thanks for the heads up, and the reminder of why I now have a Dodge. And it's a Dodge that kicks ass on any chev with a 350 V8.

Message: The two Chevy trucks we have at work are newer than my Dodge, with less miles. But they both have required a lot more work, some of it major - transmission and rear end. Don't forget, GM would be going under without the government bailout. "chevykicksazz" ? You should call yourself "chevyjackass".

Message: Thats great Chevysuckssazz, you'll have to explain to me how my 06 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4 would only get 12 MPG on it's best day, truck spent it's first 22k miles in and out of the shop infamous steering clunk, steering box replacement, driveline vibration, POS I tried to trade it for a new Toyota and couldn't get a dealer to give me over 20k for the POS that was only a year old with 22k on the odometer and not a scratch the sticker on the window when purchased was 36k I ended up selling it privately for not much more than 20k and paid cash for an 02 QC 4wd which to date has not seen the inside of a mechanics shop

Message: My friend and I have identical travel trailers. They are 24' long, same weight, same equalizer setup, etc(we bought them at the same dealer, salesman gave us a deal). My '03 Dakota(4.7L, 3.92 diffs) may not take his '02 Chev(400 cid, 2500HD, 4.11 diffs) on the steep hills, but as for stability and bounce, the Dakota is a better ride. And the gas mileage is equal. His truck bounces all over the place. Winner: Dodge.

Message: ive definitly heard of people having problems with chevys fords and dodges all the same. without a doubt in my mind, dodges on average have had way more problems.
"the Dakota is a better ride. And the gas mileage is equal. His truck bounces all over the place" - saying you get the same mileage as a 2500HD pickup in a dakota is not a good thing for you... kinda defeats the purpose of getting a smaller truck i say... and your ride should be better pal, he's in a HEAVY DUTY pickup, you idiot.
I could ramble on all day about quality problems with a dodge. from crappy front ends, to the underpowered 4.7L, to the Fugly looks....
if anyone here things that the problems people have with a chevy, dont happen with a dodge, your sadly mistaken. from my experience, and everyone else in this area, they happen way more with a dodge.

Now if I'm not mistaken, seems like your vortech 5300 has the same power output. It it because GM only knows how to build true car engines and gave up on engines that should power a truck?

Message: Now that was a good response Drakewn! It’s Funny that GM engines could never take on a Mopar engine when it comes to torque and reliable. As a matter of fact how many 305's did you ever see in a GM C/K pickup??
I'm not anti GM or GM truck for that matter. I happen to like the small block 294 cid and 324 gas Vortech engine. The GMC Serra that I drove did great with fuel mileage, but just didn't have the low end torque as I came to expect from a truck.

I could never believe that your truck wouldn't sway before a 3/4 ton series truck, chevy or otherwise. the only way i could see that happening is if the load on the chevy was way off balance...

Message: Does GM still sell there Vortech 8100? I guess it must be a wast of money since you can buy a 6.2 litre engine that's over 400 HP.
But anyway, if Chrysler is so crappy then why is GM doing everything they can just to stay a float, they even sold off Alisson there HD Transmission maker. And now it seems that serveral other makes from there line up "trailblazer ect" has been slashed. As a matter of fact I herd that both the Trailblazer and GMC Envoy was nothing but crap any how. Not to mention the qaulity of there product and design departmen back serval year ago producing viehicles like the Aztack, and that crappy mini truck that no one wanted the SSR. No wonder car sales are so low for GM.
