Subject: Changed Battery, Radio Not Working IP: Logged
Message: Changed the battery in my '04 Dakota. Now, neither the radio nor the clock works! Dealer said it didn't have any "codes" to begin with. Said he'd put a new one in for $400! Anybody got a fix for this? Thanks!

Message: There is one more fuse to check - usually the
cigarette lighter fuse - provides power to the memory of the radio and to the clock when ignition off - to keep it in time..
If still no go - just get an 'aftermarket' radio
- should be able to get a decent one for about $ 100 , maybe even installed for that..

Message: Check the fuse labeled "I.O.D.". I believe it is in the fuse panel in the Power Distribution Center under the hood but it might be in the one inside the truck.

Message: I didn't the same problem you are having, but mine acted like the antena wasn't grounded correctly and after I removed the antena and made sure it grounding properly my radio wouldn't work, so I removed it, bench tested it and sure enough it was bad. I went to a junk yard and tired 3 from other Chrysler products before we found a good one, it cost me $25. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I think its possible it does have a code that needs to be entered before it will work. If that's the case when you try to turn it on it should display, "enter code", if not then it doesn't need a code to work. I have driven other Chrysler products that were 2003, and they did in fact need to have a code to "restart".
Good Luck

Message: Do the turn signal work when the radio does not?
I'm not being a smart a$$ here.
On my 01 Dak, even now, today, I have to wiggle the key a little bit after start up to get the radip and turn signal to work! The equalizer has power/lights, even when the radio doesn't on mine!
Try that trick first, just to see if it's doing what my truck has done now for years, and still does today.
YO ushould see the look on the inspectors face every year I get my truck inspected!! But I start it, wiggle the key, and the turn signal work, and it passes (lots of other things they check too, brakes, computer port for emission codes, etc.)
Drive it like its paid for!

Message: T.T., Intersesting you brought up the key thing. On my Ram when i turn the key to Acc. position the radio lights go out. The radio still plays, just the display goes blank. If I jiggle the key the display will light back up but if the key slips, it goes right back out. The Ram has the RAZ Infinity sound system in it.
