I just began noticing a metal on metal sound when going over a rough road. I've narrowed it down to the left front passenger side. It doesn't take a very rough road to make this happen. It isn't a constant noise, only when a road gets rough. Interestingly enough it doesn't do it when going over a speed bump, it needs to be constant.

I did just replace my brake pads, but I don't really see what that could have affected. I didn't touch the roters because I didn't even want to think about getting into the bearings.

Any opionions would be appriciated.

Thanks

Also check the antisway bar. But you should be aware that there is no left front passenger side. Sides of a vehicle are called as if you were sitting in the driver's seat.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Whoops, I was still drinking my coffee when I posted that.

And I forgot to mention it, but its an 04', so hopefully its not the balljoints (post recall).

If its the sway bar, I take it the bushings are probably bad; correct?

When you say metal on metal, is it metal banging against metal or metal scraping/grinding against metal?

More like banging, but not that dramatic. Sounds like its an old farm truck

Jack up that side up to take the weight off the wheel and then see if anything is loose.
Or maybe something loose in the engine compartment over that wheel.

I guess I was in a hurry when I was doing the brake job, because I didn't put back the stock shims on the caliper. I didn't put them on the drivers side and its not making noise, but that seems like the problem because its not making the noise anymore.
