Subject: Heat/AC Issues IP: Logged
Message: Hi guys,
I've got an '02 Dakota SLT with two heater issues:
1. The Heat/AC blower only works on high. Doesn't work at all on any other setting. I've looked for low-speed relay, or something of that nature and haven't found one, so I'm assuming it's in the switch.
2. Just three days ago the vent for the floor stopped blowing air. The defrost and panels still work, but if you put it to floor you get nothing. There's probably a damper in there somewhere, but I don't know where to begin. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Message: The blower resistor switch plugs into the bottom of the ducting by the blower. It is a 2 or 3 wire connection that it is held in by 2 screws. The resistor is a common problem.
On my 2001 there are 3 directional doors all controlled by one motor with 1 P.O.S. plastic arm controlling all the doors. It isn't fixable and you have to replace the whole ductwork. A/C / hotrod shop said they hadn't seen this happening to Dakotas yet until I and one other unfortunate soul brought ours in within days of each other.
